It will comprise 3 days of capacity building conference sessions and an Expo Hall where the A-Z of processing, packaging, ingredients, food safety and other products and services can be found in one location. After many years of being under the shadow of its neighbour Kenya, Uganda’s economy has found its footing, with a vibrant economy, young population and a manufacturing industry that has increasingly met local demand in the country, and increasingly, serves the regional economies in East Africa and the Great Lakes region, through exports. A peaceful political environment and an agriculture sector that produces coffee, maize, fish, poultry, pigs, pulses and other produce in abundance has made Uganda to be an agriculture giant in the region. Multinationals such as Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, AB-InBev and Diageo have invested massively in Uganda. In the Great Lakes region, other giants including Heineken have established their strong presence to take advantage of rising demand for packaged goods. Further, the strong economy has enabled the entry of local entrepreneurs who have invested massively in agro-processing and other food industries.
