Opening up North Eastern Africa's Potential

AFMASS Food Expo Ethiopia comprises 3 days of capacity building conference sessions and an Expo Hall where the A-Z of food, beverage and milled products; processing, packaging, ingredients, food safety and other products and services shall be on display to a local, regional and international audience.

Ethiopia is the most vibrant economy in Eastern and North-eastern Africa. After many years of being out of the radar of many investors, the economy of the country has posted double digit growth for more than 10 years, bringing with it massive investments in infrastructure, manufacturing, agriculture and tourism.

In the last 10 years, the country has attracted the attention of some of the world’s largest food industry players, including beer giants Heineken, Diageo and Castel and other players including Pepsi, Coca-Cola and Fonterra, that continue to invest in the country to meet rising demand for processed foods. Private equity investors have also invested aggressively in the country’s food industry.

Ethiopia’s strong agriculture sector is the base from which most of the food, beverage and milling industry thrives, with vast opportunities to increase further agricultural production and local processing and packaging of food.

The country is one of Africa’s leading producer of wheat, maize, oilseeds, pulses, sugar cane, coffee, barley, sorghum, livestock and many more agricultural produce.

But Ethiopia is not alone in this region. Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia, Somaliland, Djibouti and even Eritrea have turned the corner from their recent past of instability and international neglect to become some of the upcoming new investment destinations.

The Agenda

AFMASS Food Expo Ethiopia will cover the most critical technologies and trends that resonate with the sector in Ethiopia and the North-eastern Africa region that will boost the region’s capacity to add value to its agricultural products and other food products.

The Conference sessions shall bring together 500+ regional and international delegates in daily conference and panel discussion sessions.

A parallel exhibition, open to trade visitors, and where over 3000 visitors are expected over the three days, provide exhibitors and partners the opportunity to trade and reach out to the industry in the broader North-Eastern Africa region.
